That was a humiliating vote last night, even by current standards, as for the 14th time in a row Kevin McCarthy unexpectedly failed to become Speaker despite leading everyone to believe he would. He picked off a few more votes but not enough to take him over the top.
But when they were about to close it down for the night, adjournment was pulled back at the last minute.
Next, they voted yet again and Kevin McCarthy became Speaker on the 15th try.
