The eSafety Commission has voiced concerns about the potential for generative AI programs to automate child grooming by predators, as the federal government moves to regulate the fast-growing new technology.

The Labor MP Julian Hill says governments need to step up, warning popular consumer products such as ChatGPT and Bard are “the canary in the coalmine”, and proposing a new federal body in the prime minister’s department to monitor the sphere.
