Shabana Mahmood says man in 70s attacked on way home from mosque is ‘well-known and well-loved’
The Birmingham MP Shabana Mahmood has said a “sense of shock and horror is going to linger” in the community, as she sought to reassure residents after a man was set on fire while walking home from a mosque.
The victim, who is in his 70s and has not been named, was sprayed with a substance and set alight on Shenstone Road in Edgbaston on Monday evening, and remains in hospital with life-changing injuries, including severe burns to his hands and face.
