Minister says government looking ‘very carefully’ at idea of stationing lawyers in country as part of new treaty
British lawyers could be sent to Rwanda as part of a new treaty aimed at implementing Rishi Sunak’s plan to send asylum seekers to the African nation, a minister has confirmed.
James Cleverly, the home secretary, is understood to be close to finalising a treaty with Rwanda as part of the prime minister’s goal of making the plan legally watertight after the supreme court’s ruling against the scheme.
