Tepco was forced to restart the coolant water injection to the crippled reactor 3 of the Fukushima nuclear plant.

On the 14th of June, 2022, Tepco began halting coolant water injection to reactor 3 as an experiment. It was originally designed to continue for three months until the 12th of September, 2022 in order to observe the transition of the temperature and the radiation level. However, water level decreased faster than the estimate and Tepco was forced to restart the water injection only in five days, the 19th of June. The further decrease of the water level makes it impossible to collect data.

In the previous experiment implemented in April, 2021, Tepco halted water injection for one week but the water level decreased by only 50cm. Since the earthquake hit the Fukushima nuclear plant this March, the water level has been continuously decreasing for unknown reasons.
