Far-right demonstrators clash with police at Liverpool hotel housing asylum seekers

Eyewitnesses say police van set on fire and counter-protestors surrounded

Disturbances have broken out outside a hotel in the Knowsley area of Liverpool after the several hundred demonstrators from the far-right Patriotic Alternative protested against asylum seekers who have been housed in a local hotel by the Home Office.

Eyewitnesses said that the protest turned violent when far-right supporters set a police van and its equipment on fire.
