Interior ministry says armed suspect appeared to be planning to set fire to synagogue in Normandy city

Police have shot and killed an armed suspect who appeared to be planning to set fire to a synagogue in the Normandy city of Rouen, France’s interior ministry has said.

The interior minister, Gérald Darmanin, posted on X that the armed individual had been “neutralised”, and he thanked officers for their “reactivity and their courage”.
