Jim Jordan came up 22 votes short in his second attempt for the speakership — flipping two prior GOP opponents but gaining four new ones.

Flipping to Jordan:

  • Doug LaMalfa (Calif.)
  • Victoria Spartz (Ind.)

New opponents (after having backed him on Tuesday):

  • Vern Buchanan (Fla.)
  • Drew Ferguson (Ga.)
  • Mariannette Miller-Meeks (Iowa)
  • Pete Stauber (Minn.)

Newly voting:

  • Gus Bilirakis (Fla.), who missed the first vote Tuesday due to a funeral.

Overall, Jordan got 199 votes while House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) garnered 212.
