We are looking for a Digital Communications Officer with a passion for science, economics, and sustainability.

We are a small team with big ambitions and are looking for someone with a track-record of delivering digital assets and implementing strategies to engage with and spur others into action.  

  • Remote: the applicant can be located anywhere, but must be available for daily meetings in the European time zone. 
  • Salary: €45-55k per annum (based on 40 hours per week contract), depending on experience and location 
  • Initially, a one-year assignment with the possibility of extension (depending on funding) 
  • Full-time (40 hours per week), but 36 hours are possible

Earth4All is an ambitious international initiative initiated by The Club of Rome, Norwegian Business School, Stockholm Resilience Centre and Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. It is built around a call to action to re-program our economies, and five viable economic turnarounds that must be scaled immediately (eliminate poverty, address inequality, deliver women’s empowerment, transform the food and energy systems) to stabilise Earth and support thriving societies. The conclusion is unequivocal: only systems-level change driven by all of today’s movements working together will succeed.  

Role overview 

The Earth4All Digital Communications Officer is responsible for designing, producing and managing a variety of digital communications and campaign materials in order to maximise our outreach efforts and support the goals of our campaign strategy.   

Manged by the Communications Lead, you will be an integral part of the Earth4All Campaign team, and your work will stretch across advocacy, public engagement, media, science communication, and supporting alliance/participation strategies.  

The successful candidate will be highly organised with excellent time management and able to work on multiple tasks. You will be a team player who is adaptive and is comfortable working in a small team, whilst being able to take ownership of your workload and responsibilities and open to growing within the role. 

Key responsibilities  

  • Translate the Earth4All narrative and policy asks into exciting materials that increase awareness, influence governments and inspire others to take action; 
  • Produce engaging and relevant online content e.g., writing blogs, news items, and interviews;  
  • Produce and co-manage the production of multimedia materials such as data visualisations, infographics, videos and when needed, work with external agencies; 
  • Manage the Earth4All website, newsletters, campaign updates, and calls to action; 
  • Manage the Earth4All social media channels, produce social media copy and sharegraphics, and investigate and implement ways to increase engagement; 
  • Develop strategies to improve communication materials and disseminate our key messages  – e.g. using storytelling approaches, improving social media strategies, and investigating new channels and tools; 
  • Manage the development and collation of materials related to the “Chorus of Voices” – a public facing campaign to collate stories from a diverse range of people; 
  • Build relationships with key organisations and influencers; 
  • Work with the Earth4All network to support the development of campaign strategies and materials with national engagement partners and supporting local organisations;  
  • Keep up to date about the latest developments in the field of digital communications and new economics within planetary boundaries; 
  • Ensure Earth4All collects learnings from outreach efforts and share the learnings meaningfully within the team; 
  • Support publicity of Earth4All events; 
  • Support other members of the campaign team as required.  

Experience and competencies 

  • Three to five years’ experience working on international campaigns or communications projects to diverse audiences; 
  • Fluent in English, other languages are an advantage; 
  • Ability to translate scientific content for public audiences and calls to action; 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – professional writing/with experience in writing published content; 
  • Experience with managing social media platforms and a track record of creating engaging and creative content; 
  • Experience in the creation of social media cards, banners, marketing materials (Using Adobe Suite and Canva); 
  • Experience interpreting materials in order to develop, write copy and edit content; 
  • Ability to work with Microsoft Office, and remote working technology; 
  • Ability to be inclusive and liaise with different cultural and social backgrounds with empathy; Capacity to contribute to effective and enjoyable te
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to collaborate with stakeholders across the project and other partners; 
  • Highly organised and methodical in approach to work; 
  • Flexible, proactive and able to multi-task; 
  • Detail-oriented and able to take ownership of tasks with personal drive and to work with minimal supervision 
  • An interest in new economic thinking and global sustainability, with a passion to transform our economies and build a world of wellbeing for all within planetary boundaries would be advantageous. 
  • Ideally with experience with content management systems (WordPress), experience with SEO, SEA and Google Analytics is a plus. 
  • Familiar with Mailchimp and experience in developing campaign calls to actions is advantageous.
