Suspect may have mental health problems, says Kent force, as head of army condemns ‘horrific’ stabbing

A knife attack on a uniformed British army officer is not thought to be terrorism-related and the suspected attacker may have mental health problems, police have said.

Kent police said a number of knives had been seized from the scene in Sally Port Gardens in Gillingham where a soldier, aged in his 40s, was left with serious injuries in the attack just before 6pm on Tuesday.
