FLYING TO EXTINCTION Recording of Livestream from Farnborough Airport on Saturday 27th January 2024 where Greta Thunberg joined XRUK and other climate activists to protest against the Farnborough Airport expansion and to call for a total ban on private jets which are up to 30 times more polluting than passenger airlines. XR activists were joined by Friends of The Earth, Greenpeace UK, Alton Climate Action Network, The Quakers, XR Scientists, Extinction Rebellion Families as well as local councilors and residents as they marched from Farnborough town centre to Farnborough Airport. They were also accompanied by XR Brighton’s iconic lightship (the 'Greta Thunberg') to protest against plans to increase private jet flights from 40,000 to 70,000 a year. Various speakers addressed the crowds, including former airline pilots, climate activists, and a pre-recorded message of support from Chris Packham.
