Rep. Mike Johnson has laid out a proposed legislative roadmap for his Republican colleagues should he emerge victorious in Wednesday's speaker balloting.

In a dear colleague letter, the Louisiana Republican proposes dealing with outstanding government spending bills over the next four weeks, teeing up negotiations with the Senate and White House.

In the immediate future, Johnson said he would pass a resolution condemning Hamas over the recent terrorist attacks in Israel; "reach consensus" on a legislative agenda through the end of this Congress; begin negotiations on the annual defense policy bill and Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization; and begin talks on government funding.

Further along, Johnson said he would not break for August "unless all 12 appropriations bills have passed the House." This December, he proposes passing a farm bill, as well as work on the defense bill and government spending.

His stated goals through December 2024? "EXPAND OUR MAJORITY" and "complete any outstanding legislative items."
