Mistrial declared in Karen Read’s trial over killing of her Boston police boyfriend

Prosecutors say Read ran over John O’Keefe with an SUV before fleeing scene in 2022, but jury was unable to determine guilt

A mistrial has been declared in the Karen Read case after a jury was unable to reach a verdict on charges that she killed her boyfriend, a Boston police officer.

A jury of six men and six women had been deliberating since Tuesday at the end of a two-month trial for Read, 44, who was accused of murdering John O’Keefe, 46.
