Senior women are particularly vulnerable to the effects of our changing climate, and in 2016, the KlimaSeniorinnen - Swiss Elders for Climate Protection - took their government to court to demand meaningful action to protect their basic rights to a healthy life in the midst of the climate emergency. Their government did not listen to them, and they were turned down three times, but these women did not stop there! After years of fighting, they took their case beyond Switzerland! Their case will now be heard before the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) in Strasbourg, France on March 29th, 2023. The KlimaSeniorinnen are part of a global wave of cases seeking climate justice through the courts, demanding that governments and polluting corporations are held accountable for their failures to act. The Court’s ruling will have a worldwide impact! Support this herstoric case, and read more about what it might mean for all of us in the fight against climate chaos:
