Arctic air expected to spread across country may also cause transport and power problems, Met Office says

Some rural communities could be temporarily cut off, with transport and power disrupted as Arctic air brings wintry conditions to parts of the UK, forecasters have warned.

The Met Office has issued yellow warnings for snow and ice throughout Northern Ireland on Monday and Tuesday, as well as across much of northern and eastern Scotland and parts of north-east England from Monday to Wednesday.
