Figures from labor department come as Federal Reserve says cut in interest rates unlikely as inflation remains high
The US workforce added another 175,000 jobs in April, with the unemployment rate staying steady at 3.9%.
Last month, the labor department reported the US added 315,000 jobs in March, far higher than the 192,000 jobs economists had forecast. It was the 39th straight month of job gains in the US and the 26th consecutive month with the unemployment rate below 4%.
